Hoje é um dia muito importante! Além de ter sido o primeiro livro em inglês que eu li, é também o segundo post bilíngue do blog! O primeiro foi uma entrevista com a autora novaiorquina Sara Benincasa, autora do livro "Incrível".

O livro, na verdade, é uma HQ que tem como personagem principal o Jacobson, um famoso jogador de Hockey. Jake já está ficando velho para a profissão. Um novato começa a ganhar destaque nas telonas e, assim, a rixa começa.
Jake está um pouco cego para o mundo. Ele sofre fisicamente em alguns jogos e se medica por conta própria. Já está viciado na pilula pra dor e ele prefere manter isso em segredo, afinal, é um motivo a mais para aposentá-lo. Além dos problemas com a carreira, a sua família também está por um fio. Ele tornou-se um homem agressivo e ausente, sua mulher e sua filha já estão esgotadas e preocupadas.
Paralelamente acompanhamos a história de Tom, um amigo de Jacobson. Tom também está perdido, ele sempre trabalhou junto com o amigo e percebe que acabou deixando a sua própria vida de lado. Além de também estar preocupado com Jake.
Quando o autor entrou em contato comigo, fiquei muito feliz! Pois além de ser a minha primeira parceria internacional, é também o primeiro "livro" em inglês que eu leio. Tenho alguns em casa, mas sempre acabei postergando a leitura, porém, agora foi haha. A linguagem é bem tranquila. Deu pra entender tudo e foi uma experiência incrível! Da confiança e vontade pra viajar agora mesmo e sair falando em inglês por aí.
Além do "livro" abordar essa questão de identidade, acompanhamos o relacionamento de Jake com a esposa e o de Tom com uma garota de outra cidade. Achei muito positiva essa abordagem de vários assuntos, tornou a leitura fluída e divertida. Um "livro" pra ler tranquilamente em uma sentada.
Recomendo a história pra todos! Fala sobre família, amizade, passado, futuro e superação. É uma história maravilhosa e leve. Ah, e o livro traz, em cada capítulo, recomendações musicais. Todas muito boas, aliás.

Today is a special day! Besides being the first english book I read, is also the second bilingual blog post! The fisrt was an interview with the New Yorker author Sara Benincasa, author of "Great".
The book, in fact, is a comic book whose main character is Jacobson, a famous hockey player. Jake is getting old for the profession. A newcomer begins to gain prominence on the big screen and, thus, the brawl begins.
Jake is a little
blind to the world. He suffers physically in some games and he practices on his
own. He's already addicted to the pain pill and he prefers to keep it a secret,
after all, it's one more reason to retire him. In addition to her career problems,
her family is also hanging by the wire. He has become an aggressive and absent
man, his wife and daughter are already exhausted and worried.
At the same
time, we follow the story of Tom, a friend of Jacobson's. Tom is also lost, he
has always worked together with his friend and realizes that he ended up
leaving his own life aside. As well as being worried about Jake.
When the author
contacted me, I was very happy! As well as being my first international
partnership, it is also the first "book" in English that I read. I
have some at home, but I always postponed reading, but now it was haha. The
language is very quiet. I understood everything and it was an incredible
experience! From the confidence and desire to travel right now and leave
speaking English in the country.
Aside from the
"book" addressing this identity issue, we follow Jake's relationship
with his wife and Tom's relationship with a girl from another city. I found
this multi-subject approach very positive, made reading fluent and
entertaining. A "book" to read quietly in one sitting.
I recommend the
story to everyone! Talk about family, friendship, past, future and overcoming.
It is a wonderful and light story. Oh, and the book brings in each chapter musical recomendations. All very good, by the way.
